This is an article that's been around the internet and may interest some of you...

When I began writing this article, the title I had in mind was Hypnosis as a Way of Life. But I realized that didn't best describe my thoughts. Then I thought to use the title Practice What You Preach. Again, that touched upon part of what I was thinking, but didn't make the point. As usual, my thoughts came like an avalanche and as I sat sifting through them, it came to me.

I regularly practice gratitude, being thankful, while accepting abundance in all forms. And as I was doing this recently, I realized that the reason I had so much to be thankful for is that I have had success on many levels, personally, emotionally, financially, in relationships, with my family, etc. Then I thought about how this all came about. I recalled how life was when I was working 3 jobs, 6-7 days per week, frustrated, struggling and at one point ended up in bankruptcy. Even then, I had a belief that somehow, someway, this was all going to change, and it did.

I had grown up as it's described, "old school." My dad was very clear as to how things should be in the way of behavior, manners, respect, a strong work ethic, high standards and all the qualities that I believe have helped direct me to be the way I am. The greatest lesson was that he led by example, he practiced what he preached. This is what I believe has been one of my best attributes for it's been very effective as a parent, an instructor and a professional hypnotist. By practicing what I preach, as it were, as a hypnotist working with clients for self improvement, I use hypnosis as a way of life. I firmly believe that I would not have the life and lifestyle I am grateful for if I had done it any other way.

So you see, Hypnotized For Success sums it up wonderfully. By practicing the hypnotic techniques for success that we share with our clients, we practice what we preach, use hypnosis as a way of life and are hypnotized for success. Hypnosis offers genuine help for people battling obesity. Many of the professional hypnotists who will attend the National Guild of Hypnotists Convention and Educational Conference this summer will be seeking certifications and re-certifications as they build their skills to help people deal with weight gain and other issues common in society today. NBC's Dateline focused on one man using the hypnosis weight loss techniques of NGH member and board certified hypnotist Tom Nicoli, and found them successful in helping him lose 40 pounds.

Merrimack, NH - May 14,2007 (PRWEB) - Hypnosis, long practiced as an alternative approach to medical treatment, is today accepted by much of the mainstream medical community as a way to treat stress, manage pain and reduce undesirable habits and behaviors such as overeating or lack of motivation to exercise. This summer, many professional hypnotists will participate in The National Guild of Hypnotists Convention and Educational Conference for the purpose of advancing their skills and gaining new certifications or re-certifications.

All of the six used using different weight loss approaches, ranging from the Atkins diet to marathon training. Marc Merlis, a pastry chef, who used Tom Nicoli's weight loss hypnosis CD's and hypnosis weight loss program, successfully lost 40 pounds during the target period. As Nicoli explains, "The problem isn't what we do, it's why we do it. Hypnosis is the natural, safe and expedient approach of getting to the why."

When Harvard Medical School hypnosis instructor Jean Fain critiqued and rated several weight loss programs for Shape Magazine, only National Guild of Hypnotists member Tom Nicoli's program ranked 5 of 5 stars. Professor Fain described Nicoli's program by saying, "Tom Nicoli has created a dramatic, affordable and effective weight-loss CD set."

None of the members of the National Guild of Hypnotists claims that the techniques of hypnosis will enable you to magically lose weight and the NGH cautions people to avoid anyone who makes such unrealistic claims. NGH president Dr. Dwight Damon says, "The National Guild of Hypnotists offers programs to prepare consulting hypnotists to better serve the types of problems people face today. The 280 workshops and seminars offered at this year's NGH Convention and Educational Conference cover a range of topics related to hypnotism and the medical and counseling professions that use hypnosis in their practice.

As a consultant to hypnotists I am asked many times about different approaches to business and ways to work with clients. Many times different isn't right or wrong, it's just different. But then again, sometimes when something is different, it is being done incorrectly.

In some cases there is either right or wrong and there can even be degrees of something being done wrong. Maybe something you are doing that's different in the way of building or running your business isn't completely wrong but it may only be slightly effective as opposed to another method or approach that would work much better.

Here's an example: When speaking at the NGH Solid Gold in Las Vegas a few years ago a woman told me she didn't do convincers / tests with her clients during induction and deepener and that she was comfortable with that. She had some success but as you can imagine, most times her sessions were not as successful as they could have been as she was basically working with her fingers crossed hoping the client was in a deep enough hypnotic state. In this case her "different" approach was not completely wrong for she was having some success in sessions but she was wrong in her approach about 80%. You can't do what we do well and be guessing at it.

On the other hand, one hypnotist may use advertising as a practice building technique and someone like me may use advertising almost never, which is true, and use more publicity and do equally as well. That's a case of different just being different.

This is one of the great advantages at what we do in our work as hypnotism professionals of having options and there being no set mold however.... beware at what you choose to tamper with and be different at as some things are just necessary basics that should be followed.
